*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*
NW Gold Cup Series to Open 2013 Series in Richland, WA
Dallas, OR – The NW Gold Cup Series brings their opening round of touring kart racing action to Horn Rapids Raceway Park in Richland, WA April 19th-21st. Hosted by the Seattle Kart Club, round one of the series will feature karting’s best NW drivers and race teams.
The NWGC series is proud to be bringing their opening round to Richland, Washington to compete at what is consider by many one of the finest racing facilities in the northwest. Horn Rapids Raceway Park was host to one of the International Kart Federation’s largest and most prestigious events, the 4 cycle Grand Nationals, which gathers top national as well as international competitors to test their talent against one another. The track was granted the event in 2010 and again in 2012.
This is the first stop for the regional traveling series which will see stops in three states and one international country, when it makes its yearly stop at the Greg Moore Raceway in Chilliwack, B.C. You can expect to see the best kart race teams and drivers that the northwest has to offer in a host of both 2 cycle and 4 cycle powered divisions, with ages ranging from 5 to 60. The series also offers a shifter division which features 125cc powered machines complete with gearboxes that will be reaching speeds of 80 plus miles an hour on the ¾ of a mile 8 turn road course, and looks to be the strongest it’s been in quite sometime. Complete event information can be found at the series website www.northwestgoldcup.com or www.nwgoldcup.com .
The NW Gold Cup Series has been the testing ground that local northwest racers have used to test and hone their skills at the next level before trying their hand nationally since 1960. IKF Sprint Coordinator Bill Hettick was very positive when asked about 2013. “Were real excited about the way things look for the series in 2013. We have several of our series top teams in several different classes returning to the run the series, and our shifter series looks to be the larger and more competitive than it’s been in quite sometime so we’re very excited about how the season looks.”
There is all day practice and registration on Friday April 19th and two days worth of race action on Saturday and Sunday April 20th & 21st. Gates open at 7am, Drivers meeting at 8am and practice scheduled to start at 8:30am, and race action is set to get underway just after noon both days. General Admission is FREE to all race fans, and those wanting a closer look can purchase a paddock pass which will get them into the pit area.
