New season brings slimmer schedule, MG Tires, and optimism for NW regional karting series

Bill Hettick
IKF Region 6 coordinator & RotaxMax NW Series Director

The series, which tours the NW and Canada, is a regional qualifying series for IKF, IAME Cup, and the RotaxMax Challenge Series World Championships. The NW Gold Cup is considered one of the strongest and most competitive Rotax & IKF regional series in the nation. Juniors Sting Ray Robb, Davey Manthei Jr., Luke Selliken and Canadian Matt Moniz, and seniors Phil Arscott, Stephanova Nekeel, Geoffrey Robertti as well as a host of other IKF National Champions, are expected to be on hand for the first of the 6 Race IKF NW Gold Cup Series.

Environmentally green MG Racing Tires is the official series tire for 2012. “Given the economy, the goal for any series should be finding ways to reduce costs for competing teams. We reduced the series 2 races, changed race formats to ease traveling costs, and in our attempt to continue to reduce costs for our competing teams and support the environment, MG was the right fit, being affordable with lasting performance" said IKF Region 6 sprint coordinator and NW RotaxMax Series director Bill Hettick. The RotaxMax Challenge Series tires will be the MOJO D2 compound and the MOJO W2 compound tire is the rain tire for both series. ALL Northwest Gold Cup/RotaxMax Challenge events follow the current IKF and RotaxMax Challenge competition rules, and are open to ALL competitors able to meet competition requirements. To ensure unbiased and consistent rules enforcement, Bam Race Tech provides the official timing, scoring, and competition operations at every event.
