OSKCS Race #5 - Recap

Round 5 of the 2017 OSKCS Championship was held on the Short Course at MacTrack in McMinnville, OR.  The Short Course offers low thirty second lap times and non-stop action and Round 5 action didn't disappoint.

The largest class of the day was World Formula Heavy, and the racing was fast an furious.  Bryan Green was back on form with a .600 advantage over Mark Westcott and Gregg Hall after qualifying.  Greg Normandin and Tim McKinney were close behind.  Bryan finished the first heat with a 4.5 second lead, with Gregg and Mark separated by .3 at the line.  With the inverted Heat 2, Bryan and Greg made contact early on and finished 6th and 8th respectively.  Gregg, Mark, and Tim took the top three spots to gain valuable positions for the main.  Although Bryan only started 3rd in the main, he was not to be denied the top spot on this day.  Gregg and Mark battled all race long for second spot although Mark was unable to make the pass.  Greg Normandin and Tim McKinney round out the top 5.

In Jr 1 LO206, Parker Sellner held the clear advantage over the rest of the field with a 2 second gap from him to Corey Rau and Ethan Codiga in 2nd and 3rd after qualifying.  Heat 1 results held form to qualifying with Ethan Codiga and Greyson Shobert within .2s at the line.  Results from Heat 2 followed suit, with drivers finishing in their qualifying order.  In the main, Parker Sellner drove away from the field, ending with a 22 second lead. Corey, Greyson, and Ethan finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, a mere .5s apart.  Bryce Smark had a poor start, dropping back two positions but battled back to get 5th position. James Hayward finished in 6th position. In 7th was Jaedynce Poole and 8th place went to Clyde Cass.

In Tag Sr. Randy Word took the win over Tom Gogal, Kara T Gogal, and Scott Bolster.  In Shifter S4, Mark Dahl took the win over Mitch Kirkpatrick.  In Jr II LO206, Bryson Smith took the win over Caleb Shrader by a mere .191s.  In Sr. LO206, Casey Lagoni finished ahead of Daniel Mendez and Dakota Grindland.

It was also great to have Corbin Pritchard, Emmett Cass, and Lewis Dilley race their Kid Karts around the MacTrack Short Course.

Thanks to all of the volunteers that make this happen.  Without their support this would be impossible.  See you all at the next race.
