Karting Has Lost a Special Man in the Passing of Syd White Post date: Sep 19, 2011

by Dan Pellizzari Syd White, one of the most respected men in all of karting, passed away in late August. He was a husband, a father, and the backbone of 4-Cycle Sprint racing. Syd’s forward-thinking approach helped transform karting into the sport it is today. Syd was a true pioneer, using his leadership roles as National 4-Cycle Tech Director, Rulebook Editor, International Kart Federation (IKF) President, and National Board Member to develop the most recognized set of standards in all of karting, the IKF’s rulebook. He championed the phrase "Spirit and Intent," which is found at the beginning of each section in the rule book, and testifies to his wish that the playing field be as level as possible.

Annual PKA Night Race is a GO Post date: Aug 11, 2011

PKA's annual night race is a go for Saturday Night August 20th. This will be race #7 of the OSKCS race series ran jointly with PARC. The night race is a favorite of the local racers giving a whole different feel of the track and facilities of the MAC Track. The night race will be ran in a clockwise(reverse) with whole bunch of action right in front of the crowd on the front straight away. Gates open at 2:00PM on Saturday with practice starting at 3:00PM Qualifying at 5:00PM The PKA board was left with a big decsision in promoting the night race as the additional cost for renting the Lights has made the night race prohivative. This year is no exception as the rental rates have gone up. Luckly a couple of club sponsors have stepped in to help with a portion the cost. Even with help of a couple of sponsors PKA is still a bit short on covering the cost of the lights for the race but chose to go ahead the race as it is one of the favorite races of the season for the racers. PKA is hoping a good number of the racers will donate a few extra dollars at the race and hope to get another sponsor or two to help defray the costs. If you would like to help out contact Mike Schorn 503-702-8244 or any member of the PKA BoD to help make the annual night race a success
