This past weekend at the Road Race event a couple of comments were made that have brought to light an issue that needs to be addressed. The previous weekend was the SCCA Rose Cup Race that PKA was invited to participate and run a demonstration. The event has been posted in the RR section of the forum since 11 Feb 2010 and on the home page of PKA since 1 June 2010. The forum item had 56 subsequent post replies and 1819 views of the information.

Now, with the above iformation being stated, kart drivers mentioned that they had not seen or knew about the SCCA Rose Cup event. The issue now seems to be "How Can PKA Notify Members about Events" in a manner that would be timely. The website and forum have been used to do this passing of information, but there seems to be a need to improve the communication to members. Keep in mind that mailing information via "US Post Office" is getting to be more and more expensive and that postings on the website are not getting to all members.

Please post replies here as to how you would wish to be notified about the PKA club events.

Maybe we can send out a mass email to people with updates/reminders of upcoming events within the next month. We could do this the week following the monthly BoD meetings... :?

I agree that a monthly newsletter with upcoming events and links to entry forms, schedules, points, etc. Would be good for getting to those individuals that don't frequent the forums.

I can see why email would be a much better way to let folks know about information needed about race events. However, since the 95 that looked at the poll and only 11 voted, getting racers to look at and read their email messages might be a challenge. Yet it seems there would be higher chance of email getting read in order to pass out information. Any other comments about procedures will be welcome here.

I voted. Honestly, I think electronic is best for the budget. But regardless of method, the club needs to make sure they get the communication out in advance so people have time to see it and react to it. The past several months, the club meeting announcements are posted the day of on the website. I would imagine the turnout is pretty low.
